The Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association (PFMA) has added a new poster to its range of educational resources for pet care professionals.

The ‘Handling Commercial Raw Pet Food Safely’ poster gives a step-by-step guide on best practice hygiene and handling steps for owners feeding a commercial raw pet food. The overarching message is to treat raw pet food with the same high hygiene standards as raw meat.

Greg Van Praagh, of Benyfit Natural and vice chairman of PFMA, said: “PFMA represents 11 commercial raw pet food manufacturers. We are proactive in working together to develop education resources and promote best practice within the sector. We hope this will be a useful addition to the education on feeding raw pet food safely.” The highly visual poster is perfect for displaying in stores and vet practices, and for pet owners at home.
