The Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association (PFMA) has launched a new associate membership category. For the first time in 50 years, those working closely with the pet food sector can now apply to become an associate member.

Michael Bellingham, PFMA chief executive, said that over the years, PFMA has been approached by machinery and packaging companies, consultants, retailers, and various service providers keen to engage, and this new membership category will facilitate that.

PFMA currently has 97 members including manufacturers and ingredients suppliers – members account for over 90% of the UK pet food market.

Mr Bellingham said: “We see this as a really positive move forward for the association. It will mean greater networking, engagement and collaboration for those both directly involved and associated with the pet food industry.”

Companies interested in associate membership can build a package suitable to their needs selecting from a range of membership features.

Mr Bellingham added: “We have developed the associate membership package with a range of options to ensure inclusivity enabling organisations both small and large to get involved.”
