Dr Carolyn Hogan has joined Elanco as a technical consultant

Elanco Animal Health UK has expanded its expert technical team with the appointment of vet Carolyn Hogan as a new technical consultant.

Dr Hogan brings valuable veterinary expertise and extensive industry experience from previous technical roles in the animal health sector spanning over 20 years.

She will join long-standing technical consultant Matt Colston to provide technical support across the Midlands, South and South-West of England and mid and South Wales, while Mr Colston will continue to support the North, North Wales and Scotland.

“As part of my role, I’ll be offering technical expertise to the territory business managers who are working with farmers, the trade, and veterinary practices,” Dr Hogan said.

She will also be the veterinary lead for the ruminant ectoparasite and dairy portfolios, having a field and marketing focus in both areas.

“Working with farmers and vets has been a core part of my career to date, but engaging with the trade and working more closely with SQPs will be a new experience, and one I’m looking forward to,” she said.

From her previous roles, including working within the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) team at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), Dr Hogan brings a wealth of knowledge regarding responsible medicine stewardship.

“Continuing to support education within the sector on the importance of responsible medicine use is something I’m passionate about,” she added.

“A key focus for me will be encouraging responsible adoption of the newer group wormers, such as Zolvix, aligning with SCOPS guidelines to promote effective and sustainable worm control in the sheep industry.”

James White, Elanco’s head of sales operations for UK & Ireland, welcomed the new appointment.

“We’re delighted to have Carolyn join our technical team; her extensive industry experience and understanding of farm animal health will be invaluable,” he said.

“Carolyn’s expertise in promoting responsible medicine use will be instrumental in supporting our territory business managers who work directly with the sheep industry, particularly in driving adoption of Zolvix across UK sheep farms.”
