Meirion Davies & Co celebrate 60 years at the heart of the local agri community

Meirion Davies & Co, in Denbigh, has been at the heart of its local agricultural industry since 1964, when Meirion, along with his wife Audrey, established the company on his smallholding.

Originally set up to provide for those in need of seeds and animal health products, these same products remain the company’s core business today, however over the years they’ve expanded their product range significantly, making Meirion Davies the go-to for agricultural supply needs for many in Denbigh and the surrounding areas.

Run today by Meirion’s three sons, Hywel, Huw and Rob, who all joined the business as soon as they left school, learning the ropes and eventually taking over the day-to day running of the company.

The business stayed on the original farm site until 2001, when it moved to a purpose-built site on the Colomendy Industrial Estate in Denbigh. The site now covers close to 1.5 acres and delivery vehicles can be seen across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Conwy, Wrexham, Cheshire and the Wirral.

All 23 employees are from the local area, demonstrating Meirion Davies’ continued commitment to the local economy.

Meirion Davies celebrated their 60th anniversary at this year’s Denbigh and Flint show and invited customers past and present to join them in commemorating the milestone birthday. Their show stand included photographs from across their 60 years in business and a memory book for customers to add their own personal memories of Meirion Davies.

Rob Davies said: “We are delighted with the support shown by our customers in celebrating our 60th anniversary.

“We understand that agricultural life comes with its challenges – that’s why we’re dedicated to supporting all aspects of it, from farmers and their families to commercial production.

“We are proud to play a role in keeping the farming industry alive and thriving by not just supporting the farmers, but by supporting their families and the wider communities in which they live.”
