Tim Davies, chairman of Downland Marketing

Downland Marketing has appointed Tim Davies as its new chairman, taking over from current non-executive chairman, Dr Andy Jones.

Mr Davies is a successful business leader with over 35 years’ experience leading large and complex organisations. He also has significant experience of the UK agricultural sector, having previously been chief executive of Carr’s Group for nine years. He also holds a non-executive directorship position at Agrimin.

Mr Davies said: “I am excited about the group’s prospects. Downland is very well-positioned, both operationally and financially, as the agricultural sector continues its transition set by Brexit and the UK Agriculture Bill.

“I believe that there is a clear opportunity for Downland to assist UK farmers to feed the nation in a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and profitable way.”

Sophie Smith, UK franchise director, added: “On behalf of the board, I am delighted to welcome Tim. He is highly experienced, with significant knowledge of the sector and I have no doubt that he will help to drive the successful execution of the board’s strategy.”
