Dairy farmers rank SenseHub as the best cow wearable herd monitoring system

In an independent survey carried out by Kingshay, MSD Animal Health’s SenseHub herd monitoring system has been announced as the UK’s best cow wearable monitoring technology.

The poll of British dairy farmers saw SenseHub competing against 16 other herd monitoring systems to emerge top in the British Dairying/Kingshay ‘Tried and Tested’ independent product review for cow wearable technology.

SenseHub was the most popular system in use by those farmers polled, and was also ranked as the best in test, earning a total of 68.6 points out of 95.

SenseHub scored the highest results in a range of categories including best for heat detection, best for ease of use, best for accuracy of data and best for ease of interpreting data. It also scored a lofty 4.6/5 in terms of the system farmers would recommend to their peers, and 4.5/5 for value for money.

“In such a competitive marketplace, it is extremely gratifying to hear that SenseHub is held in such high esteem by the people who use it on a day-to-day basis,” says Elizabeth Thornley, technology solutions marketing manager for MSD Animal Health’s Ruminant Business Unit.

“Choosing the most appropriate monitoring system to meet each herd’s individual needs is critical to ensuring the farmer, his/her staff, and the farm’s veterinary support team have access to reliable, accurate and easy to understand data which can be used to facilitate real improvements to the herd’s health, welfare, fertility and performance.”

Ms Thornley continued: “The poll clearly showed that SenseHub users trust with complete confidence the heat and health related insights that their SenseHub systems produce, and that they would be more than happy to recommend SenseHub to their peers. But what the survey didn’t illustrate is that the SenseHub Ecosystem offers much more beyond using neck collars or ear-tags to monitor the fertility and health related indices of adult cows.

“With the new SenseHub Youngstock application plan, farmers and their vets are now able to monitor the health of each and every animal within the herd from birth through to the end of their final lactation. This gives everyone involved in managing the farm’s youngstock and adult cow populations access to reliable data which can be used to make informed and proactive decisions which will optimise the lifetime performance of each young animal entering the herd.”

The wider SenseHub Ecosystem also includes in-line milk analysers which measure milk quality parameters including somatic cell count, butterfat, protein, lactose, blood content and conductivity as each milking takes place.
