Brinicombe commits to bolus market with Rumbol acquisition

Animal health and nutrition manufacturing group, Brinicombe, has acquired the original slow-release trace element bolus manufacturer, Rumbol Products, which it said further cements the business’ position in the bolus marketplace.

Keith Greig, managing director of Brinicombe and now also Rumbol, said the two companies first set up a joint venture to manufacture and distribute EnduraBol cattle boluses in 2020.

“From the start it was clear that Rumbol was the best bolus manufacturer in the business, with its director, Dr Stuart Ritchie continuing the legacy of his father Norman Ritchie, in advocating the firm’s strong values of quality and innovation – which resonate with our own,” he said.

“To ensure a consistent service, supply and quality of our products, we aim for ‘ownership’, where at all possible, of our supply chains, so it made sense to acquire Rumbol when the opportunity arose.”

Mr Greig said that while Brinicombe is now the parent company, Rumbol will operate as a standalone subsidiary to the group, with Brinicombe remaining a customer of the company.

“Nothing will change at a commercial level, meaning our customers will continue to receive the same top quality products, service and support. And we’re pleased that while Dr Ritchie has stepped away from directorship, he will still be involved in the business, in a part-time, consultancy capacity,” Mr Greig said.

Rumbol’s general manager, Glen Dove, will remain in position and lead the day-to-day running of the operation, with the strategic support of Mr Greig as joint managing director of Brinicombe and Rumbol.
