    Bimeda Online Sheep Scab Training Academy reaches milestone

    Bimeda has announced that its online training programme, the Bimeda Sheep Scab Academy, has reached an important milestone with 100 people having completed the course.

    SQP Andrew Hetherington of Carrs Billington Agriculture in Cockermouth became the 100th person to complete all three AMTRA-accredited online training modules, which are related to best practice for the control and treatment of sheep scab and ecto-parasites.

    Bimeda’s regional sales manager, Mike Marron, called in to the Cockermouth branch to present Andrew with his framed certificate and his exclusive Sheep Scab Academy branded items.

    Mary van Dijk, Bimeda’s Marketing Manager, said: “We have been so pleased to see SQPs from around the UK ‘step up to scab’ and dedicate time to learning about best practice for sheep scab and ecto-parasite control.

    “In 2019, Bimeda presented at some of the OvertheCounter CPD seminars on the topic of scab and received strong feedback from SQPs that they really wanted to learn more about best practice for prevention, diagnosis and treatment, to allow them to give the best possible advice to farmers.”

    Ms van Dijk said the high volume of sign ups and completions the company has seen for the Sheep Scab Academy since then, has been indicative of this appetite among SQPs to increase their knowledge in the area of sheep scab control.

    “In addition to the 100 people who have completed all three modules of the Academy, there are another 100 who have signed up and who are well on their way to completion,” she added.

    To sign up for free to the Academy, click HERE.

    To take part in the Academy, participants need to complete the three AMTRA-accredited modules which are listed below and which include best practice advice from key opinion leaders:

    • The Importance of Diagnostics in Sheep Scab Control – by key opinion leader, Rebecca Mearns;
    • Sheep Scab – Control Measures and Resistance – by key opinion leader, Lesley Stubbings; and
    • Sheep Ectoparasites and Their Control – by Key Opinion Leader Peter Bates.

    A certificate of completion and some exclusive branded Sheep Scab Academy items will be provided to anyone who completes all three modules in 2020.
