W&A Geddes, a leading agricultural merchant based in Caithness, is pleased to announce a significant change in ownership as the company prepares for its next phase of growth and service to the farming community.
After more than three decades at the helm, Ewan and Sandra Mackenzie are delighted to welcome Allan Bain and Susan MacWilliam as the new owners of W&A Geddes.
Ewan, who first joined Geddes in 1984, together with Sandra, has overseen the steady growth and development of the business, earning a reputation for excellence and commitment to customers across the region.
Founded in the early 20th century, W&A Geddes has long been a cornerstone of the agricultural sector in Caithness and Sutherland.
The new ownership brings a wealth of experience to Geddes. Allan Bain, originally from Thurso and currently retail director at Harbro, has played a pivotal role in Harbro’s successful expansion over the past 35 years.
Susan MacWilliam, a former retail manager at Harbro, brings extensive experience in agricultural retail and customer service.
Mr Mackenzie said both Allan and Susan are committed to maintaining the high standards and customer focus that W&A Geddes is known for, and are excited to work with him and Sandra, who will continue to play an active role in the day-to-day running of the company.
Mr Mackenzie said: “It has been a privilege to be part of Geddes for so many years and to serve the farming community in Caithness and beyond. Sandra and I are confident that Allan and Susan will build on the strong foundations we have established and lead Geddes into a bright future.
“We look forward to working alongside them as the business continues to grow and evolve.”
Mr Bain added: “Geddes is a respected name in the industry, and Susan and I are honoured to take the business forward.
“We are committed to retaining the personal service and local expertise that customers value while exploring new opportunities for innovation and growth.”
