Commemorative tree planted to mark Wynnstay’s centenary year

Past and present directors of Wynnstay Group Plc recently gathered at the company’s head office in Llansantffraid, Powys to plant a tree to mark the centenary year of the business.

Wynnstay was originally established as a farmers co-operative by a group of farmers in the Llansantffraid area on January 17, 1918.

The commemorative tree has been planted adjacent to a tree planted by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1981, during his visit to Llansantffraid to officially open the refurbished mill, which was the most modern mill in Europe at the time.

Gareth Davies, Wynnstay’s chief executive, said: “The Group’s foundations are firmly established in Llansantffraid by the founding farmer members who established the business in 1918. From its roots, the business has developed a national presence spanning from Scotland through to Lancashire and Yorkshire, into the Midlands, Wales, and down as far as the South West coast.

“Our centenary year is a celebration of what the business has achieved through the hard work and commitment of members of staff past and present, coupled with strong leadership and direction, we look forward to the development of the business in the future.”
