Family-run pet food manufacturer Burgess Pet Care is building on the success of its annual greyhound and lurcher takeover with a new summer campaign.
The Yorkshire takeover will launch on Friday, August 1, encouraging consumers to nominate a rescue centre to receive food donations generated through sales of the brand’s Supadog Rich in Salmon Rescue Pack.
The brand aims to raise awareness of the estimated 100,000 dogs in care in the UK, along with the organisations and people that rescue and rehome them; for every rescue pack sold, 20p goes towards rescue centre food donations.
Suzanne Moyes, deputy managing director and in-house vet at Burgess Pet Care, said: “We believe all animals deserve care, respect, and good nutrition, and so we’re very pleased to be able to support those who tirelessly care for and protect dogs with no permanent home.
“We hope this campaign helps to ease the growing pressure rescue centres are facing due to lack of funding and increasing demand.”
Lisa Cartwright, founder of Greyhound Gap, who received 100 bags of Burgess Supadog food to support her rescue centre, said: “This meant more than just food, it gave us a real morale boost during a tough time.
“Over the past year, the support from Burgess has helped us stretch our resources further and focus more on the dogs in our care. Knowing our hard work was recognised made a lasting difference to our whole team, and in turn, the dogs we care for.”
