NoBACZ Healthcare and VBMS launch third SQP training course: Neonatal calf management

NoBACZ Healthcare, in partnership with Virtual Business Management Solutions (VBMS), has launched its third accredited training course for SQPs, this time focusing on the critical early-life period of neonatal calves.

Accredited by AMTRA, the new module provides four CPD points and builds on the success of the previous two courses delivered through the NoBACZ–VBMS collaboration. Further joint training initiatives are already in development.

This latest course highlights emerging research and best practice in neonatal calf management, with a particular emphasis on navel hygiene, disease prevention in newborn calves, and pen and equipment hygiene.

The content is designed to strengthen SQPs’ understanding of the key risk factors affecting calf morbidity and mortality, and to support evidence‑based recommendations on-farm.

Dr Emily Collins-Wingate MRCVS, technical services vet at NoBACZ Healthcare, said SQPs play a crucial role in the responsible supply of animal health products, ensuring that calves receive appropriate care while maintaining compliance with UK regulations. “By equipping SQPs with up-to-date knowledge on neonatal calf health challenges and practical management strategies, NoBACZ and VBMS aim to enhance the support these professionals provide to farmers and veterinary teams,” Dr Collins-Wingate said.

“We’re delighted to introduce the third course in our SQP training series. Neonatal calf health underpins lifetime productivity, yet early‑life diseases remain a major challenge on many farms. By combining practical guidance with the latest research, this course empowers SQPs to give confident, evidence‑based advice that supports both calf welfare and farm efficiency.”

    Availability
The training is now live and accessible via VBMS’s CPD platform. For more details, visit the SQP Training Portal, by clicking here, or email [email protected].
