How sheep farmers can best manage parasite pressures in a changing climate will be discussed at an online workshop hosted by Elanco Animal Health next month.
The Access to Knowledge (A2K) webinar, which is open to vets, SQPs, and farmers, has CPD points on offer and will take place on Wednesday, March 25, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.
Elanco ruminant technical consultant, Matt Colston, said the upcoming webinar will focus on spring parasite challenges, and what can be done to protect flock health and performance as seasonal trends become less predictable.
“With changing weather patterns now influencing grazing decisions and parasite lifecycles, early monitoring and timely interventions are becoming increasingly important,” he said.
“This webinar will bring together expert insight and on-farm experience to support vets, advisors and farmers in managing spring challenges with greater confidence.”
The session will feature Emily Grant, independent beef and sheep consultant from Forrit, Ben Strugnell from Farm Post Mortems and Richard Stanbury, owner of Weston Farm.
Chairing the four 15-minute sessions will be well-known Scottish sheep farmer and YouTuber Cammy Wilson, from The Sheep Game.
“The sessions will explore a range of topics including practical strategies for managing spring parasites, a farmer’s perspective on shifting parasite pressures in recent years, and the importance of early blowfly control as seasons change,” added Mr Colston.
The agenda includes:
Weather Weirding
Emily Grant will be diving into seasonal unpredictability and how this is affecting grazing management and sheep parasite pressure in the spring months
A look at Weston Farm
Richard Stanbury will five a seasonal update from his Devonshire sheep farm
The Parasight Live
Ben Strugnell, from Farm Post Mortems, will give an overview of what he’s seeing in his post-mortem room and what it tells us about emerging trends
The webinar will conclude with a live Q&A session where attendees can ask the expert panel any questions.
Those who would like to join the webinar will need to register for the free event.
