Downland has welcomed two new Franchise partners – Farm Gate Veterinary Services and Dalehead Veterinary Group.
Both are independent veterinary practices based in the Northwest of England. These two new partners cover a livestock dense area encompassing Southeast Cumbria, North Lancashire and the Forest of Bowland, West Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Downland chief executive Sophie Smith said: “With over 200 qualified SQPs, Downland is committed to the animal health sector, and in particular farm health planning, providing farmers with unbiased advice and support.
“Aligning with the veterinary sector is part of our strategy so we’re delighted to be strengthening our vet practice links with the addition of Farm Gate Vets and Dalehead Vets.”

Farm Gate Vets and Dalehead Vets have been working together since 2013, combining resources for high quality staff CPD, training and development, disease surveillance and local projects.
Dalehead Vets’ farm livestock services are provided by eight dedicated farm animal vets, and Farm Gate Vets’ large animal practice comprising of 12 vets.
Jim McKinstry from Farm Gate Vets, said: “Joining Downland strengthens our overall offering for farmers, enabling sound veterinary advice, coupled with the supply of premium quality products, along with access to regular updates and training for our vet and SQP teams.”
