Covetrus has announced a design update to the CalmDown by Kruuse Button, making it compatible with standard pet collars.
Originally developed to support dogs and cats during recovery from surgery, the pheromone-based calming device can now be used more widely to help manage short-term stress, including fireworks, travel, boarding, vet visits, and changes in routine.
The CalmDown Button contains a concentrated, synthetic version of these natural pheromones, helping to support calm behaviour in situations that may cause stress or anxiety, including during the post-operative period.
Initially designed to clip into Elizabethan collars (E-collars), the device delivers targeted calming support to post-operative patients – many of whom face multiple stressors such as restricted movement, unfamiliar environments, and separation from home routines
The redesigned format now allows the CalmDown Button to clip onto any standard collar, like an ID tag, offering a more flexible option.
Jack Dixon, marketing manager at Covetrus, the exclusive UK distributor, said: “We listened to feedback from vet practices who recognised the button’s value in post-surgical patients and wanted a way to use it more broadly.
“This updated design reflects that demand, offering a simple, practical solution to help manage short-term stressful situations.”
Suitable for dogs and cats of all ages, CalmDown begins working within minutes and remains effective for a minimum of 10 days. It is available at a recommended retail price of £5.99, with cost-effective multi-pack options for veterinary practices. An applicator tool is also available for use with collars that do not feature pre-punched holes.
