NFU highlights importance of food production at Bristol Balloon Fiesta

The NFU is taking the farming experience to the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta for the first time this week, to showcase local produce and the benefits of buying British food.

The public can join in the celebration of British produce by visiting the NFU’s Discovery Barn and Discovery Pod which will provide interactive games for children as well as local food and drink to try.

They can also pledge their support for the NFU’s Back British Farming Campaign by hanging an apple on the Back British Farming pledge tree.

NFU president Minette Batters said: “With Brexit just around the corner there has never been a more important time for the public to get behind their local farmers.

“British farmers and growers provide the nation with a safe, traceable and affordable supply of delicious British food every day, and this supply should not be taken for granted.

“Festivals are a great way to get people thinking about the journey from farm to fork  and I strongly encourage those attending the Bristol Balloon Fiesta this week to visit the NFU stand; not only find to out more about where our food comes from but to celebrate the local heroes who keep us fed every day.”
